Mother’s Day is this month!
Looks like we’re still stuck with this pandemic that’s not going to vanish from this world any time soon despite the existence of vaccines.
Then again, the celebrations must and should go on!
A lot of us might not be living with our mums and if the cross state or district border aren’t open yet, do not worry, if there’s a will, there’s a way.
We’ve listed down some interesting ways for you to celebrate Mother’s Day virtually from a distance.
Although you can’t be present physically to show your gratitude and love to your mum, connecting virtually is equally admirable.
Your mum will surely approve of it!
1. A Flower Bouquet

Who doesn’t like flowers? So surprise your mum with a nice bouquet. You may want to find out your mother’s favourite flowers and deliver them to her doorstep on Mother’s Day with a nice personalised message from you.
You can get a local florist to do the job. But, do remember to book it ahead as most local florists will be busy during this period. Siapa cepat, dia dapatlah!
2. Deliver Her Favourite Meal

There are so many food apps nowadays and many restaurants have their own app for delivery too. Choose your mum’s favourite meal and get the local delivery guy to send it over to your mum be it for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
After all, she’s your queen – so treat her with a nice delicious meal of her choice. It’s the least you could do to give her a break from the kitchen.
3. Buy A Gift Online

If you wish to buy a gift online, how about choosing something that she needs most. Not necessarily the most expensive things, but something that would make her happy. It could be kitchen appliances, apparel, jewellery or decorative items. As long as she loves it, go for it.
You really need to buy it ahead too so that she can receive her gift before or on the day itself. But don’t worry, even if she received it much later, she will still appreciate it no matter what. That’s mum!
4. Virtual Greeting Card

Unleash the creative side of yours by making your very own greeting card. Take it up a notch by getting your children to tag along in the making of the greeting card for their granny. Trust me, it will be a fun project to do with your children. Sometimes your children will give you brilliant ideas especially if it’s related to an art project.
Once done, save it to your phone and send her the greeting card via email, WhatsApp or any other virtual ways she’s familiar with. You can also give her a live video call and see for yourself the joy in her eyes.
5. Watch a Movie Together Virtually

Technology is the greatest asset for today’s world. So make use of it. Set a movie date night with your mum and the rest of the family. You can watch a movie together by sharing your screen via Zoom or Google Meet or maybe put the same movie on at the same time on Netflix and have your mum ‘next to you’ with a video call.
Of course, it’s nothing like the real thing where you can hug your mum and be in her arms, but it’s better than nothing considering the conditions we are in!
6. Virtual Tour with Mum

Since we can’t travel anywhere, let’s bring the tour indoors. Get to know your mum’s favourite places to visit as there are many museums, historical sights, tourist attractions, and nature sightseeing that open up their “walls” to offer virtual tours.
You and your mum can visit all the interesting sights from all over the world within the comfort of your home walls. How cool is that? Mesti best-kan?
7. Make a Video

You don’t always have to buy something, creating something meaningful like a special video message from all your siblings and your mum’s cucu will mean more than any bouquet of flowers.
Record the message of appreciation and splice it up via an editing app on your phone. Send it to your mum on Mother’s Day and watch how it brightens up her day!
