“SuperGuardian” Takes the Stage: Nippon Paint in Collaboration With Parenthood Launches Inspiring Storybook to Promote Healthier, Safer Homes

In partnership with Parenthood Media Network, Nippon Paint Malaysia proudly unveiled the captivating new storybook SuperGuardian, Who? at the recent Kids World Expo at Pavilion Bukit Jalil Exhibition Centre. This creative collaboration with Malaysia’s renowned book creator, Wizard Within, brings indoor air wellness to life through imaginative storytelling.

 

The story follows the whimsical character Ray, who takes young readers and their parents on a fun-filled journey to explore the vital role of clean air in creating a safe and healthy home. With its engaging narrative, the storybook cleverly highlights the importance of maintaining a healthier living environment for families.

 

 

In 2021, the World Health Organization (WHO) updated its Ambient Air Quality Guidelines, reflecting new evidence that air pollution is more harmful to human health than previously thought. This raises particular concern for Malaysia, where ambient air quality standards for many pollutants still exceed the WHO’s 2005 and 2021 guidelines. Alarmingly, over 60% of Malaysians are exposed to poor indoor air conditions, indicating that only 4 out of 10 homes provide a safe environment for families. Nippon Paint’s “SuperGuardian, who?” storybook tackles this pressing issue, offering families an engaging way to learn about the importance of indoor air wellness in everyday family life.

“Two years ago, we launched the Wellness Outreach Program to raise indoor health awareness among kids nationwide reaching over 150 schools with fun, educational sessions and colouring contests. Today, we’re excited to introduce SuperGuardian, Who? a storybook that’s more than just a book—it’s a fun and meaningful way to engage families in the conversation around indoor air wellness,” says Mr Ng Leong Kee, Marketing team of Nippon Paint Malaysia.

The book-read sessions and exclusive insights with the book creators enthralled parents and children alike. Their indoor wellness product range such as VirusGuard & Spotless Plus, is designed to combat harmful pollutants like viruses, bacteria, and formaldehyde, perfectly complementing the themes explored in the storybook. This emphasis on Nippon Paint’s innovative evidence-based solutions for indoor paint, alongside the captivating narrative, resonated deeply with visitors seeking practical ways to improve their indoor environment.

 

 

This collaboration between Nippon Paint, Parenthood Media, and Wizard Within marked an inspiring milestone in Nippon Paint’s commitment to wellness, creativity, and innovation. At the recently concluded Kids World Expo, held from 17th to 19th January 2025, SuperGuardian, Who? took centre stage as families were introduced to a unique way of prioritising indoor air wellness through the power of storytelling. The book was officially launched by Mr Ng Leong Kee, Ms Pei Yen from Wizard Within, and our very own Teresa Chin, Parenthood’s Chief Editor, adding a special touch to this meaningful initiative.

 

 

A highlight of the event was the captivating book reading session by Parenthood’s editor, Lily Shah, who brought the story to life for the young audience and parents alike. Her engaging narration kept the children mesmerised as they followed Ray’s imaginative journey to learn about the importance of clean air for a healthier home. Visitors to Parenthood’s booth were also given a chance to take home copies of SuperGuardian, Who? through fun-filled games, with the first 100 winners walking away with this creative and meaningful storybook.

 

 

The SuperGuardian, Who? storybook forms part of Nippon Paint’s broader initiative, aimed at reducing harmful pollutants indoors and making air wellness a household priority in Malaysia through its AirGuardian product series. As part of this initiative, Parenthood aims to introduce the book to 7,000 preschoolers this year through interactive educational playdate sessions and activities, promoting early awareness of indoor air wellness. The launch also served as a teaser for future titles in the series, keeping visitors intrigued about what’s next for the partnership between Nippon Paint and Wizard Within.
