Now that we are under the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO), and are allowed to do certain activities with the kids, such as playing outdoors, cycling etc, it is important more than ever to educate our children the importance of hygiene and keeping clean during these times.
While constantly reminding and nagging them to wash their hands and not touch their face may be one way to do it, another way to really get the idea stuck into their heads is by showing them how a simple task such as washing their hands with soap can do wonders in keeping the COVID-19 virus away.
Here’s an interesting way to teach kids about germs and why washing our hands is so important, especially during these times.
Materials needed:
- Pepper (Acts as COVID-19 “Germs”)
- Water (Acts as the surface of your hand)
- Soap (Is soap when you wash your hands)
Steps:
- Sprinkle pepper on water. These are the germs that are on the surface on our skin!
- Dip finger in the “germs”. Look how the “germs” stick to your hands! Yuck!
[Now, here’s what happens when you use soap to wash your hands.]
- Coat your finger in soap. This is you “washing your hands”.
- Stick your soapy finger in the “germs”.
The germs move away when you use soap! This is why washing hands is so important!
Try it out yourself, and stay safe everyone!
