Since the Movement Control Order (MCO) has been extended to 28th April 2020. The Ministry of Health has advised all parents to ensure that their children continue to receive their necessary vaccinations to avoid other illnesses.

According to an article on Berita Harian, babies or children that have appointments to receive vaccination or immunisation jabs during MCO are advised to continue their scheduled appointment to avoid contracting other illnesses during this time.

Dr Tuty Aridzan Irdawati Mohsinon, Deputy Director from The Development of Family Health Division, Ministry of Health (KKM), says “both of the injections are very important even though we’re in the middle of MCO. So, parents should bring their children to get the necessary jabs.”

She also added that vaccines or immunisation that is given pass the scheduled date, may not be as effective to the babies and children, hence parent should not take this for granted.

“Apart from vaccinations and immunisations, another important treatment that is still ongoing throughout MCO is treatment for mothers who are on contraceptive pills and ‘nurse-visits’ to check on mothers who have just given birth in order to ensure  that both mother and child are healthy post pregnancy,” said Dr Tuty.

For those who receive nurse-visits, should there be anyone who’s classified as patient under investigation (PUI) for Covid-19, they are required to inform the nurse or clinic in advance, so the nurse is aware and prepared prior to the visit.

As reported by Berita Harian, any mothers who have appointments in a different district or state, can contact the nearest health clinic to change the appointment date and location.
