Sunway Velocity Mall once again held its annual Spelling Bee Bonanza from 29th June to 2nd July 2023, in hopes to plant the significance of education in children and to promote friendly competition among the contestants.
After the 4-year halt, Sunway Velocity Mall’s 3rd Spelling Bee Contest saw more than 140 multicultural students from various international, private, and national schools all over Klang Valley participating. This event was a buzzing success in bringing people from various cultural and social backgrounds together.
This “Technology” themed Spelling Bee Contest was divided into two categories; Category A (9-10 years old) and Category B (11-12 years old), with 3 “un-bee-lievable” spellers from each category were crowned the winners. Ezra Ebenezar Anantharaj from Sekolah Kebangsaan Kampung Idaman has crowned to be the champion of Category A, and Arianna Emily bt Shahril Mizani from Tenby International School Setia Eco Park is the champion of Category B. The 1st runner up for Category A is Ethan Wong Zi Yu from Sri KDU Primary School and 2nd runner up for Category A is Deeptha Sundar from Sayfol International School. The 1st runner up for Category B is Hannah Lye Ke Yin from SRJK (C) Puay Chai Petaling Jaya and 2nd runner up for Category B is Woo Gin Lynn from SJK (C) Kuan Cheng 2.
The Champions of this Spelling Bee Contest were rewarded with RM1,500 cash and RM500 worth of cash vouchers. The 1st runner ups of this championship were rewarded with RM1,000 cash and RM300 worth of cash vouchers while the 2nd runner ups of the championship were rewarded with RM500 cash and RM200 worth of cash vouchers. Our proud sponsor, First World Game also rewarded the Champions with new learning gadgets, a Redmi Note to enhance their learning experience.
The effort of the parents and teachers from the schools did not go unnoticed from registration, to training and preparation of the competition until the actual day, their support made a great impact on all the participants. Not to mention the amazing work of the judges who assisted in the competition to make it a great success. The judges were Ms. Yamunah A/P Selvarajah and Mr. Vinuraj Naidu A/L Kandasamy from Victoria International School, Ms. Raquel Mamaril from Fairview International School, Ms. Vanessa Kho Ke Li from SJK (C) Nan Yik Lee Rubber, Ms. Shagina Bhalan from Collinz International School, Glenmarie, and Ms. Sherly bt Sharif.
Not only that, but many shoppers got to participate in the many workshops and fun activities like Mini Coding Workshop, Mini Robot Workshop, VR & Gaming Corner, and even have fun at the photo booth. Through this campaign, Sunway Velocity Mall hopes to inspire the younger generation on the importance of education and to elevate the learning experience for the students.
Sunway Velocity Mall was thrilled to have Agmo Academy, First World Game and Callie to be a part of our Spelling Bee Bonanza. Agmo Academy, an academy arm from Agmo Holdings Berhad which provides industrial experience training on technology is dedicated to creating a fun and immersive learning experience for kids. Aim to eliminate poverty by coding, Agmo Academy had its soft launch of Agmo Junior Coding Academy for 7-12 years old kids which will be a free access to B40 families.
