Families came together for a morning of movement, laughter, and bonding at the Family Pickleball Day, a special collaboration between Parenthood and The Nurts, held at the latest and hottest pickleball spot in town – Playa Racquet Club!
Designed to be inclusive for all ages, the event welcomed parents and children to experience pickleball in a relaxed, family-friendly setting. Children aged 3–7 took part in mini games and movement-based activities guided by Playa’s coaches, who were incredibly patient, encouraging, and clear with their instructions. Their fun, easy-to-follow approach helped even first-timers feel comfortable on court and ensured the kids stayed engaged and smiling throughout.
For older children aged 7–12, the session focused on an introduction to pickleball fundamentals, including basic skills demonstrations and simple gameplay. The coaches broke down techniques in a way that was easy to understand, allowing kids to learn while still having plenty of fun.
Parents also got their time on court, rotating through casual, freestyle games that prioritised enjoyment over competition. It was a refreshing way for families to stay active together while cheering one another on.
Beyond pickleball, children enjoyed creative activities such as colouring and painting, and everyone went home happy with thoughtfully prepared goodie bags. Adding to the celebrations, the event also marked The Nurts’ 3rd birthday, making the day even more meaningful for families who have grown alongside the community.
These days, it’s so easy for kids to get glued to screens, which made this Family Pickleball Day a lovely reminder of how much fun being active can be. With simple games, patient coaches, and lots of encouragement, the kids had a great time on court while parents enjoyed some quality playtime too.
Sometimes, all it takes is a paddle, a ball, and a good community to get everyone moving together.
