Fasih Mandarin, a Certified Language Center for Mandarin with the tagline ‘Making Mastering Mandarin Fun’, launches their flagship educational campaign ‘New Language, New Life’. The campaign features facts and information across their platforms to promote the benefits of learning the second most used language in the world. Part of the launch also includes the setup of the ‘Fasih Mandarin Gives Back’ initiative to reinforce their commitment to upskill and uplift the B40 community in Malaysia.
Why Learn Mandarin?
Mandarin has proven to be a valuable asset not just in daily life, but also in advancing one’s career, gaining the upper hand for a position in a competitive industry or even expanding a business. Shah Farid Rashid, founder of Fasih Mandarin, has had firsthand experience of how learning Mandarin can change one’s life – and he is determined to share the benefits of becoming fluent in the language with everyone.

“When I first decided to pursue a degree in Mandarin Literature despite having no prior knowledge of Mandarin, I never expected to gain as many benefits as I did just from becoming fluent in the language,” says Shah. “Mastering Mandarin has changed my life for the better, and I founded Fasih Mandarin to do the same for others, especially as I come from a B40 background myself.”
Accredited by the BeiBu Gulf University in China as a Certified Mandarin Learning Institute, Fasih Mandarin was established with one goal in mind: empowering non-native speakers to master Mandarin effectively by infusing fun into every lesson. The center offers courses with levels ranging from beginner to advanced, promising a 100% passing rate for students who are looking to sit for the International Chinese Proficiency Test otherwise known as Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK).
Giving Back to the Community

Hailing from an underprivileged family himself, Shah was inspired to launch this initiative based on his own experiences growing up as a member of the B40 community. Having had to start working at the young age of 10 in order to support and provide for his family, Shah understands fully the struggle faced by the less fortunate.
His hard work paid off when he was offered a scholarship to further his studies. When Shah opted for a degree in Mandarin literature, he soon became aware of the endless possibilities that being fluent in the language afforded him – from being highly sought after for job opportunities, to forging strong connections with Mandarin speakers in his community. Shah recognised how big a role Mandarin played in turning his life around.
“There were many opportunities I wish I had when I was younger in order to improve my life,” he says. “Having managed to overcome the hardships from my childhood, I want to give back to the community I grew up in. This initiative is just the beginning, as I intend to have Fasih Mandarin registered as a social enterprise to help those who faced the same roadblocks I once did.”
Fasih Mandarin Gives Back is offering a 50% scholarship to the B40 community, equipping them with additional capabilities and giving them a leg up in improving their quality of life and better employability. The Fasih Mandarin Gives Back initiative currently offers Beginner level courses for its participants, with plans to offer Intermediate and Advanced levels in the near future. Members of the B40 community who are keen on applying to the program can do so through this link.
Other Collaborations
Apart from the Fasih Mandarin Gives Back initiative, the language center’s recent collaboration with the Universiti Malaya Centre for Continuing Education (UMCCed) to provide accredited courses for both business professionals and frontliners also has them seen as the first Mandarin Language center to work with the prestigious university.
Fasih Mandarin has also been certified as an examination center for students to sit for the International Chinese Proficiency Test, otherwise known as Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK).
