Imagine taking your new baby home from the hospital.
Safety and comfort would always be your first emphasis, no matter the vehicle or the distance.
Upon arrival, the first few weeks will be challenging, to say the least.
Health-centred support is necessary for mothers (and fathers), as it gives them the much-needed control and confidence during this adjustment period.
With this in mind, KPJ Healthcare Berhad (“KPJ” or The Group) introduced its new campaign, hashtagged #MerdekaMaternity4U.
It covers both maternal and baby safety, from pregnancy care, during birth (hospital stay), and post-birth (home care).
In line with the Group’s vision as the “Preferred Provider of Healthcare Services”, #MerdekaMaternity4U provides relevant and timely information about parenthood, encompassing practical tips to thrive during the 9 months.
The offerings introduced via this campaign are available nationwide in all KPJ Hospitals throughout Malaysia from now until 31st December 2020.
Every mother who delivers her baby in KPJ hospitals during these four months – either via a normal or a C-Section – will be provided a complimentary baby car seat.
This is to not only ensure the child’s safety but also in line with the ruling that the use of child car seats is now mandatory with effect from January 2020.

Encik Ahmad Shahizam Mohd Shariff, the President and Managing Director of KPJ Healthcare, said, “We have all the resources necessary to support parents on this journey. Our hospitals practice baby-friendly initiatives which greatly mother baby bonding through breastfeeding, based on guidelines from the World Health Organization (WHO) and United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF).”
There are ninety-three (93) experienced Resident O&G specialists and eighty-three (83) Paediatricians who take care of the new bundles of joy.
In addition, we have ninety-one (91) anaesthetists for epidural and caesarean section services.
KPJ has Specialist Nurses trained in Midwifery and allied healthcare professionals who form an integrated network of support services.
KPJ adheres to the Ministry of Health’s (MOH) Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
This is especially important in the care of newborns including pre-birth Covid-19 tests for mothers being admitted for delivery – either via natural births or caesarean.
In addition, KPJ has in place an integrated network of nurses, midwives, and allied healthcare professionals, who form an integrated team and network of support services, ensuring you have a most satisfying and conducive environment and conducive stay at KPJ Hospitals.

With 1,259 medical specialists and 15,264 employees throughout the Group, KPJ caters to more than 2.9 million patients annually. 19 of KPJ’s hospitals are accredited by the Malaysian Society for Quality in Health (MSQH), and 4 are accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI).
Other than its specialist hospitals in Malaysia, KPJ has 2 hospitals in Indonesia, 1 in Bangladesh, and 1 in Thailand.
