The Ultimate Family Day Out! Here’s Why The Nurts Great Race 2025 Was Such a Blast

If you walked into Sunway International School on recently, you would have heard it long before you saw it. Laughter, cheering, tiny feet sprinting across the field, parents shouting “Go, go, go!” while juggling strollers, water bottles and the occasional meltdown. That pretty much summed up The Nurts Great Race 2025, a full-day family sports and wellness event that brought together parents, kids and an entire community ready to play and reconnect.

Running from 10 AM to 6 PM, the event turned the school grounds into a mini universe of friendly races, hands-on activities, wellness workshops and good old-fashioned family fun. With free entry for visitors and optional passes for the Active Play Arena, families streamed in from morning until the very last hour. By the end of the day, a total of 1,410 attendees had joined the fun.

And judging by the huge smiles, tired but happy faces, and kids clutching medals and activity passports, The Nurts Great Race truly lived up to its name.

Ready, Set, Go! Action at the Active Play Arena

The main draw was undoubtedly The Nurts Active Play Arena, where the kids truly shone. Tailored for children aged 4 to 12, this zone was buzzing with competitive and fun sports challenges and mini races. A smart move by the organisers was dividing the activities by height and weight, ensuring the competition was fair and inclusive for everyone.

Race kits that came with bibs, performance tees, water bottles and sponsored goodies were redeemed throughout the day. In total, 270 kits were snapped up. The mini races were friendly but still competitive enough to get parents waving their phones and shouting encouragement like full-time cheer squads. By the end, 253 kids proudly walked away with shiny medals, each one earned with sweat, determination and maybe a few dramatic finishes that only children can pull off.

The Nurts Family Play Zone: Where Imagination Took Over

Not every child is into racing or running, and that was the beauty of this event. The Family Play Zone offered a more relaxed, giggly kind of fun. Families laughed their way through The Nurts Giant Card Game Challenge and enjoyed a nostalgic trip with the Nostalgia Games Corner, in collaboration with IBU family.

For babies and toddlers, the event didn’t leave them out either. Baby crawl races and “Floor is Lava” challenges turned into adorable crowd-pullers, with parents crouched on all fours trying to tempt their babies to crawl faster with snacks, toys and dramatic facial expressions. Inflatables added another layer of pure joy, with children bouncing around like they had endless energy.

Kids also collected stickers through activity passports, which turned the day into a mini adventure as they moved from one game to another in search of their next sticker. By late afternoon, many proudly flashed their completed passports like trophies.

The Wellness and Discovery Zone: A Calm Break Parents Appreciated

Between the excitement and adrenaline, families could retreat to the Wellness and Discovery Zone, a calmer space focused on mental health, learning, and relaxation. Many parents and grandparents appreciated this part of the event.

The zone included mental health check-in booths, foot and shoulder massage zones, gratitude and self-love activities, DIY crafts, yoga minis, small STEM projects and even prenatal nutrition chats for expectant parents. Free BMI assessments, chiropractic screenings, and oral health checks provided families with an opportunity to learn more about their well-being in a friendly, low-pressure environment.

The area also featured The Nurts books, card games and merchandise, which kept curious little hands busy while parents enjoyed a few calm minutes before diving back into the action.

Fuel, Fun and a Whole Lot of Community Spirit

The F&B Zone kept families fuelled all day with food trucks, drink stalls and plenty of quick bites, but the surprise favourite was the Milo truck. Kids lined up for their cups while parents got a sweet hit of nostalgia that instantly brought them back to their own 80s and 90s school days.

The lively atmosphere continued throughout the event as families, partners and sponsors came together to create a true community moment. More than 560 kids took part, over 60 brands supported the day, and the event reached more than 270,000 people online. The warm feedback said it all, with 97 per cent of attendees eager to return and just as many rating the event four out of five stars.
