In conjunction with its 23rd anniversary on 25 March, Petrosains has lined up a series of fun and exciting activities and promotions for visitors to its premises in Suria KLCC in Kuala Lumpur.
During the week-long celebration, members of the public can sign up for Petrosains’ The Discoverer’s League membership at a special rate for family, adult and children.
New chemistry activities are also on hand. Among the highlights include the ‘Spinning Flower’, which showcases how water can be used as a lubricant and reduce friction between two surfaces, as well as the ‘Invisible Can’, where visitors can learn why aluminium soda cans are treated with a protective coating.
By the end of this year, visitors to Petrosains will also be able to experience an upgraded science centre. One of its main attractions, the Dark Ride, an autonomous motion system equipped with high-definition sound, visual production and biometric technologies is currently being improved.

There will also be a new addition to the centre, the Sustainability Gallery, aimed at empowering visitors to think about the ‘future we choose’.
Petrosains Sdn Bhd Chief Executive Officer Ezarisma Azni Mohamad said: “We are grateful for the patronage and support we have received from the public, the Government and its agencies, as well as our partners from the corporate sector, academia, industry players and many more.
“With the upgrades, we will continue delivering more creative and impactful learning experiences, including in advancements mooted under the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR), including big data analytics, cloud computing, artificial intelligence and Internet of Things (IoT).
“We believe this will further nurture future generations enabled with skills that will rely on scientific and technological advancements to help solve many of the challenges communities face today, including those brought about by climate change.”
Currently, the main centre at Suria KLCC hosts about 300 interactive exhibits various in themed galleries in its more than 7,000 square metres of space. Over the years, Petrosains has welcomed tens of millions of visitors through its exhibitions, learning activities and online programmes for students, teachers and the public.
