Read on before you decide on what you are getting for your significant other this year!
Valentine’s Day is about expressing your sincere, passionate LOVE for a person. It doesn’t have to cost a ton of money, but it does require thoughtful consideration. If you’re looking to give loved ones a treat they’ll actually enjoy, avoid overdoing things, being inconsiderate, and choosing tasteless gifts. They also should NOT emanate:
“I’m kinda busy, but.. NAHH.. here you go”
“You could really use this.”
“I’d love it if you clean up.”
“This is for me actually.”
“I need to save lah.”
“Sorry, this is super last minute.”
Here are some Valentine’s Day gift ideas that are a huge NO-NO!
#1 The same gift you got the last year.. and the previous year and the year before that.. (you get the picture)

These are mostly gifts that are sold almost anywhere before and during Valentine’s Day. These include flowers, chocolates and cakes. It is OKAY if you give these with another gift, or if you gift these once in every several years. But if you give this year after year after year, it isn’t going to be special anymore, but rather an expected ritual that really gets kind of boring!

#2 The practical stuffs

Valentines is not about what may help your partner at home or in the office. So forget about those tools, stationeries, home appliance and all that- unless of course your partner really wanted or asked for it specifically lah.
#3 Hygiene Products

Like what are you trying to say??? Soaps, shampoos and body scrubs are usually not okay. It gives the idea that you want your loved one to be cleaner. Unless of course your significant other is a huge fan of certain body scrubs and soaps or lotions and you know they would love getting some- then it wouldn’t be considered one of the worst gift ideas on Valentine’s Day.
#4 A Gift for the Giver

One of the best examples is lingerie. This seems to benefit the giver more rather than the receiver. Or if you’re thinking about getting a concert ticket, think again- Is it really something your significant other wants or is it sound more like something you want yourself?
#5 A gift at the wrong time

Choosing a gift may be a hard decision, but what also should be considered is WHEN you’re presenting the gift. Don’t lah present the gift when he or she is busy with a grumpy baby, or while your partner’s mind is focused on something entirely different- super bad idea okay!
The best time is when both of you are focused on each other and the atmosphere is relaxed and rather romantic. But please don’t wait till the day after Valentine’s Day. You’d want it to be in the moment.
