Mother’s Day is a day all mothers will look forward to – the one day of the year that is especially dedicated to mums all over the world. Doesn’t matter if you’re a working mum, stay-at-home mum, or single mum, it’s a day for her to relax and receive tons of love. Indeed, a day to give back for all that she has done (and still doing) for the family.
COVID-19 has certainly changed our day to day life and habits. When Mother’s Day comes this year, going for the usual Mother’s Day brunch or outing may not be possible.
But, jangan risau! Whether the Movement Control Order (MCO) will be lifted or not, you can still have a wonderful and meaningful celebration with the family. But, how? Well, one doesn’t need to go to a fancy restaurant or have a spa treatment to feel special. You can bring luxury to your own home and enjoy the moment with your family.
1. Serve breakfast in bed

Here’s a little secret, when Mother’s Day comes about, mums usually just want to be taken care of instead of having to take care of everyone. A little surprise breakfast in bed would go a long way in capturing her heart. Let her sleep in, then enjoy your home-cooked breakfast (her favourite of course) together with snuggles! I would love it if my husband does this for me – (who doesn’t, right?)
2. Make a Scrapbook

This can be a very good activity not only for you but for your children as well. Break out those old photo albums and transform them into something beautiful. You and your children can each work on your scrapbook pages and bind them together when you’re done. It will be a memorable gift to cherish.
3. Mother’s Day Cake

What is Mother’s Day without a cake, right? It wouldn’t be complete without something sweet. Why not whip up something together with your children. Now anyone can bake – it’s just within your fingertips. You know what I mean, just google-lah!
Or if you think that this would just trouble everyone and would only give mum more of a headache, you can always turn to a delivery service and order a surprise Mother’s Day cake instead.
4. A Massage Treat

Mums just want to feel appreciated. And you know what’ll make them feel appreciated? You, going out of your way to set her up with a home massage. You may not be a professional, but it’s the thought that counts right?
Have a few aromatherapy candles lit in a calm and quiet area and give her shoulders and back a little rub. If you have no clue what to do, it wouldn’t hurt for you to take a few lessons on the web prior to Mother’s Day to show how dedicated you are. She’ll definitely love the gesture.
5. Set Out a Karaoke Night

Unveil your inner music senses and dance to your favourite tunes. You can elevate your karaoke experience even more with an at-home system that’ll keep the entire family entertained for hours.
You can even prepare some chips and drinks and gather the entire family together in a room for some fun family time.
6. Make a Delicious Dinner

If she’s always the person making the meals, give her a night off by making one of her favourite meals. Take it one step further by setting the table for a special occasion and do the dishes after. I’m sure she will be the happiest person ever.
7. A Movie Night

When was the last time she got to watch something that wasn’t a kid’s show? Put the children to bed early and have a movie night – just the two of you. Have some candles lit, maybe some drinks and some snacks, and even a blanket that you can both snuggle in together.
How romantic is that?
