Briefly tell us about yourself.
I am married for about two years now and I am blessed with a baby girl who is our first child. Not many people know this, but I’m an introvert. So I spend most of my time with family and close friends. When meeting new people, I’m always anxious about what they think of me but being part of the publishing industry, I learn the fun way burst out of my bubble.
What’s your reaction and feeling after you found out that you’re pregnant? Who was the first person you shared this news with?
It was truly unexpected and I was overwhelmed because we tried so hard and were disappointed many times before. Besides telling my husband, I kept calling my mum as we are so close to each other.

What are some of the lifestyle changes now that you have given birth and have a new baby in your life?
Now that I am breastfeeding, I have to be mindful of what I eat as I want the best for my baby. As for daily activities, there’s no way I can work with as much peace of mind as before! There are so many things I need to take care of. I am glad that I have no issues with clothing as continue to use some of the maternity wear which I really like, such as UNIQLO’s Maternity Ribbed Leggings and Maternity Ultra Stretch Leggings Pants because they are so comfortable to wear and great for transition between caring and nursing baby, as well as running out for groceries and baby supplies!
How did you prepare yourself to welcome your child?
I read a lot, exercised and followed a proper diet. In addition, I bought a lot and various types of baby necessities – just in case my baby needs them. Also on my shopping list was UNIQLO’s maternity wear. I have to say wearing the best set of comfortable and fitting clothing every day during my pregnancy is like when Bruno Mars sings Just The Way You Are.
What are some of the challenges you faced during pregnancy and motherhood journey now?
One of those challenges is not getting enough sleep. When I was pregnant, the size of my stomach and the severity of my leg swelling made me feel uncomfortable and difficult to sleep. Even now, I don’t get enough sleep because my baby keeps me busy during sleeping hours.

“I think the most important thing for all pregnant mothers is to take care of their mental health and be prepared for all the challenges during the period of giving birth and after.”
What are some of the most important things that you think all mums-to-be need to know and pay attention to?
Usually, expectant mothers are advised to eat a nutritious and healthy diet, buy adequate necessities and choose the best place to give birth. However, after going through my own experience, I think the most important thing for all pregnant mothers is to take care of their mental health and be prepared for all the challenges during the period of giving birth and after. Most importantly, get yourself comfortable clothes to help ease your movement no matter pre or post-natal. For me, I still wear my maternity leggings up to this very day. I honestly don’t mind that it is slightly loose currently on the tummy area because the fabric feels so right to be worn.
Who would you like to thank the most for supporting you throughout the journey?
I would like to thank my husband, family and all my close friends because they are always there for me. I feel very grateful for their presence from the beginning of my pregnancy until now.
Your advice to first-time mums out there.
People’s advice often needs to be listened to and followed but not until the extent of harming yourself. Do things by looking at your capabilities. You will be depressed if you can’t afford to do something that is out of your reach which is not good for you and the baby. Do remember to pray a lot.
