The Backup Plan: How Keeping Spares Can Save Your Sanity Against Unwanted Drama

The Backup Plan: How Keeping Spares Can Save Your Sanity Against Unwanted Drama

Every parent knows that going on a trip or a day out with toddlers can feel like a battlefield, especially when their main arsenal seems to be tantrums and ear-piercing screams. While avoiding these escalated situations might feel impossible, managing them becomes much easier with one golden rule: Always Be Prepared.

Snack Time Saviours

Kids are unpredictable beings. One minute they refuse to eat and then the next minute, they are starving! Save yourself the drama by keeping extra portions of their favourite snacks to avoid hunger-induced tantrums. For variety, add portable and non-perishable options like crackers or pouches.

Clothing Chaos: Spares for Messy Moments

One cannot have a child and expect the clothes they have on to be clean all the time. Spills and stains are inevitable with kids and keeping an extra set of clothes (or two) for outings helps last-minute panic. Just for extra precautions, pack weather-appropriate extras, just in case of sudden weather changes.

Diapers and Wipes: Double Up

When it comes to the diaper game, it is definitely better to be safe than sorry! The wisest thing to do is to ALWAYS pack more diapers than you think you’ll need because like it or not, your child can be a certified poop-machine. Remember to also bring enough wet wipes as they are multipurpose lifesavers not only for diaper change but also for messy faces and hands.

Spare Entertainment

Save yourself some sanity from headaches during long car rides or plane trips, by making sure your children are not deprived of things to do. Call for backup entertainment like small books, colouring kits, or quiet toys to bust boredom that can quickly turn into a series of scream-filled tantrums and never-ending whining.

First Aid Basics

A necessity to have in your packed bag or vehicle regardless if you even have kids or not. What’s more, if your kids are at that age where they keep falling and getting themselves hurt almost effortlessly.  Always keep spare band-aids, an antiseptic wipe, and tiny tubes of ointment for minor bumps and scrapes.
