When Should Baby Start Feeding Themselves?

fiffy

When your child reaches 6 months of age, they’re ready for solid food.

At the beginning of introducing solids, you may want to help your child to eat.

They might also be curious with the food they are eating and start using their fingers to feel the different textures while eating.

Introducing a baby-friendly fork and spoon is also great so they can practice self-feeding with these important tools.

Learning to feed themselves is an important stage in babies for a number of reasons:

  1. They learn to eat independently – A skill they need to develop for the later years of early childhood – and for life.
  2.  Improve fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination – This stage involves lots of feeling, squeezing, and food dropping. It may seem messy, but they’re actually learning and improving their fine motor skills.
  3. They learn more about the taste, texture, smell, and temperature of food.

FIFFY Baby Training Fork & Spoon set is a great tool for them to practice using their motor skills while improving hand-eye coordination.

Giving the chance to your child to use a spoon and fork (even when it’s messy) will help them get better at using these tools.
