The brand marked World Breastfeeding Month 2026 with expert conversations, practical support and RM60,000 worth of home appliances for three confinement centres.
Breastfeeding is often described as natural, but that does not mean it always comes naturally. From physical discomfort and emotional pressure to milk-storage concerns and the demands of postpartum recovery, every mother’s experience can look very different.
Recognising these realities, Toshiba Lifestyle Malaysia launched “Empowering Every Mother’s Journey” in conjunction with World Breastfeeding Month 2026. Held in Kuala Lumpur on recently, the initiative brought together policymakers, maternal-care experts and mothers to encourage honest conversations about breastfeeding – and the support women need throughout the journey.
“At Toshiba, we believe innovation should serve a greater purpose by enhancing the quality of everyday life,” said Vanice Foo, Head of Brand Management at Toshiba Lifestyle Malaysia.

“By integrating technology, education and community care, we aim to support mothers throughout their breastfeeding journey and contribute towards healthier beginnings for newborns.”
Breastfeeding Support Is a Shared Responsibility
The event was officiated by YB Yeo Bee Yin, Chairperson of the Parliament Select Committee for Women, Children and Community Development.
Highlighting the importance of collective support, Yeo noted that breastfeeding should not be viewed as a mother’s responsibility alone.

“Breastfeeding is not only a mother’s personal journey but involves families, communities and healthcare professionals,” she said. “Mothers may face many challenges as they navigate their motherhood journey.”
She added that collaborations between the public and private sectors can help educate communities and foster more supportive environments for mothers and babies.
A panel discussion expanded on these themes, featuring Yeo alongside certified lactation consultant and infant-care expert Elizabeth Richard, as well as model, ceramist and wellness advocate Natasha Hudson.
Together, the panellists explored the realities of breastfeeding, the value of reliable information and the role families and communities can play in helping mothers make informed choices.
Giving Mothers the Confidence to Continue
Breast milk offers nutritional and protective benefits that support a baby’s growth, development and overall well-being. However, mothers may also encounter physical, emotional and practical challenges that make breastfeeding difficult.
“Without the right information and support, mothers may find it difficult to continue,” Richard explained. “Consistent education, professional guidance and a supportive environment are therefore essential in helping mothers feel more confident throughout their breastfeeding journey.”
Hudson offered a mother-centred perspective, reminding guests that no two experiences are exactly alike.

“Every mother’s journey is unique, shaped by its own challenges and beautiful moments,” she said. “Having the right support can make a meaningful difference. Conversations like these are important reminders that a mother’s well-being matters too.”
Teresa Chin, Managing Director of Parenthood and facilitator of the forum, said the event provided an opportunity for experts, mothers and industry partners to discuss an issue closely connected to maternal and newborn well-being.
RM60,000 in Appliances Donated to Confinement Centres
Alongside the awareness event, Toshiba Lifestyle Malaysia announced a donation drive benefiting three Malaysian postpartum-care providers:
- The Nesting Place Confinement Centre
- Kimporo Postnatal Rejuvenation Centre
- LYC Mother & Child Centre
The contribution, valued at approximately RM60,000, includes refrigerators, washing machines, dryers and dishwashers.

The refrigerators are intended to facilitate the safe and hygienic storage of expressed breast milk. The remaining appliances will support daily operations and help create a cleaner, more convenient care environment for mothers and newborns during postpartum recovery.
In recognition of the contribution, Toshiba Lifestyle Malaysia received the Parenthood Records title for the “Most Home Appliances Donated to Confinement Centres”.
Creating a More Nurturing Home Environment
Guests at the event were also introduced to the 5-Senses Toshiba Lifestyle Experience Zone. Inspired by motherhood, breastfeeding and the comforts of a nurturing home, the immersive space demonstrated how household appliances can contribute to a more comfortable, hygienic and calming environment for families.
While appliances cannot replace compassionate care, professional advice or encouragement from loved ones, practical home support can lighten some of the everyday demands placed on new mothers.

Initiatives such as “Empowering Every Mother’s Journey” serve as an important reminder: mothers are more likely to thrive when they feel informed, respected and supported – not only by healthcare professionals, but also by their families, workplaces and wider communities.
