Sunway Lost World Of Tambun (LWOT) is definitely a theme park that offers everything under its roof. From comfy rooms to a world of fun and adventure – it has it all! Majestically standing at the foot of an ancient limestone hill in Tambun Sunway City, Ipoh, it is just a journey of 2-hours from Kuala Lumpur. When you’re living in a buzzing city environment, you will feel the need to getaway into nature and relax.
Unlike other theme parks, LWOT consists of multiple themed parks within ONE park! Yup, it has an amusement park, water park, wildlife park, adventure park and a night park that is also a hot spring park. It makes a unique eco-adventure excursion for visitors of all ages.
As parents to our two young teens, our preferred holiday spots have drastically changed from the usual theme parks to selected theme parks that really fit all our checklists. If you’re also parents to teenagers, holidaying can be stressful merely because teenagers tend to feel bored if it’s not up to their par and might detach from their surroundings and lose themselves in their gadgets instead. But to our surprise, both our teens were really into all the activities, and we thoroughly had great family time together.
There are many reasons for liking this theme park. Curious to find out more? Let me break it down for you!
1. Comfy Stay at Natia Suite-Themed Room
Lost World Hotel is one of the main parts of the renowned LWOT. As a guest of the Lost World Hotel, you have a selection of rooms to choose from that range from the Exotic, Classical, Deluxe Suites, and Premier Suites. Room rates range from RM 700+ – RM2K+. All rates are inclusive of a buffet breakfast at the Garden Terrace and complimentary entrance tickets to Sunway Lost World Hot Springs & Night Park. In addition, all rooms have complimentary Wi-Fi.
We were fortunate to have stayed in the Natia Suite Themed Room overlooking the theme park which is just a stone’s throw away. Our room was extremely spacious. It consists of:
- 1 master bedroom with a King sized bed
- 1 living room with chaise lounge
- 1 Double Decker Safari Truck Bed
- 2 bathrooms
- 2 units of flat screen TV
- 1 kitchenette with microwave with Coffee / tea-making facilities
We’ve got no regrets on our 2-night stay here. Super comfy and we rested well!
2. Lost World Adventure Park– Fun Thrills
- Rock Climbing
The first must-do on our list was rock climbing! Rock climbing is a great outdoor sport for people who love the adrenaline-filled thrills and is a great way to get a full body workout. Let me warn you ahead – we’re not a climber family and do not have any pre-training prior to the climbing. But our teens were eager to try it, so we supported them.
What was once a quiet hidden area with amazing rock formations jutting out of a cool green meadow is now developed as a rope course catering to kids, teens, and team-building groups.
With all the safety equipment and the guidance from the professional instructor guiding you during the climb, it definitely helped our children complete their first outdoor rock climbing.
Not only that, both my husband and I ended up climbing up the limestone as well. We couldn’t complete the climbing, nonetheless, our children totally amazed us with their strong will and endurance to finish the climb.
- Zip Line
The professional team at Lost World Adventure Park strapped us into the harness and safety helmets, and up we went onto the take-off tower. This is the activity I enjoyed most – the thrill of flying as we zip across a 120-meter-long cable over The Boga Lake.
We didn’t just do it once but twice while the children repeated it 3 times in a row. Truly an exhilarating experience!
- Kayaking
Another must-do activity on the list is kayaking at Boga Lake. Set within the backdrop of the 400-million year-old limestone hills and surrounding nature, it couldn’t be any more perfect. I know my husband is quite skilled in kayaking but seeing our son follow suit doing his solo kayaking was impressive.
As for my girl and I, we were not bad at all kayaking together. A great mummy and daughter bonding time there.
Other Parks
LWOT is much more than just a park. Honestly, 2-days is not enough for you to fully explore the parks as there is also a Wild Park where you can get up close with the hippopotamus, crocodile, hyenas, and tiger.
There are many fun rides here that you can go on over and over again such as Dragon Flights, Giddy Galleon, Storm Rider, a pirate ship, and Perak’s first-ever roller coaster, Lupe’s Adventure that is suitable for young children.
If you like getting spooked, then the Haunted Chambers is the place for you, with its seven chambers of horror.
As nightfall arrives, The Lost World Hot Springs & Spa comes alive from 6 pm to 11 pm daily.
You can explore the Luminous Forest which will transport you from the normal realm into the magical enchanted forest.
We were totally mesmerised by the intricate details of their mythical gardens and the beautiful luminous landscape. With activities to do both day and night, it is an ideal destination for every family to go back to over and over again.
