You Can Now Book Bus and Ferry Tickets Directly Through Grab in Malaysia

Planning an intercity trip just got easier. Malaysians can now book bus and ferry tickets directly through the Grab app following a new partnership between Grab and redBus, one of the region’s leading online bus ticketing platforms.

The integration allows users to browse, compare and book intercity bus and ferry services without needing to download a separate app or create another account, making travel planning more seamless within a single platform.

Available through Grab’s Partner App Program, the new feature gives users access to more than 200 bus and ferry operators across Malaysia and Singapore. Travellers can also book high-demand cross-border routes between Malaysia and Singapore, as well as ferry services connecting Malaysia and Indonesia.

The move reflects the growing demand for integrated digital experiences, where users increasingly prefer to manage transport, payments and travel arrangements within familiar apps they already use daily.

By embedding redBus directly into the Grab ecosystem, users can complete their entire booking journey within the Grab app, including payment via GrabPay and earning GrabCoins on eligible transactions.

Krishnan Ramaswami, Chief Business Officer of redBus, said customers today increasingly expect travel services to be available within the digital platforms they already trust.

“Our partnership with Grab reflects a shared vision of simplifying mobility by bringing travel services into the digital ecosystems customers already use every day. We are reducing friction in the travel planning journey and making intercity and cross-border travel more discoverable, accessible and convenient,” he said.

The Malaysia launch follows the earlier rollout of the redBus integration within Grab Singapore, where users responded positively to the convenience of booking bus tickets directly through the app.

To encourage adoption, Grab and redBus are also introducing a series of launch promotions. During the promotional period, users can enjoy a 50% discount on eligible redBus bookings made through the Grab app. Additional incentives will also be offered to GrabUnlimited subscribers and Grab Travel Pass holders.

Users can access the new service by opening the Grab app on iOS or Android and selecting the Bus & Ferry icon.

With the latest integration, Grab continues to expand beyond ride-hailing and food delivery, positioning itself as a broader lifestyle and travel platform while making intercity and regional travel bookings more accessible for users across Malaysia.
