For the past few years, wellness and staying healthy has been a top priority for all of us  – thanks to Covid-19 (and now HFMD), which acts a huge reminder to keep us aware on the importance of health, hygiene and wellness. With this in mind, Nippon Paint Malaysia in collaboration with Parenthood, once again initiated the Nippon Paint ‘Wellness at School’ Campaign for the 3rd year running.

 

The campaign focuses on empowering preschoolers and their parents on staying safe and healthy, particularly when it comes to indoor wellness. With participation from 130 schools nationwide, the Nippon Paint ‘Wellness at School’ Campaign initiated a colouring contest for students aged between 3-6 years old in two different categories:

• Category 1: Colouring contest for 3 & 4 year olds
• Category 2: Drawing + colouring contest for 5 & 6 year olds

 

Nippon Paint believes that creativity is an important part of children’s wellness – and that it comes through play. Each student was given a Ray Saves The Day storybook that stresses on the importance of hygiene practices such as washing hands, covering mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing, opening of windows to maintain good indoor air circulation and lots more. The book also includes a colouring and drawing contest to spark children’s creativity. A Wellness Mask  was also included to inspire them to be a superhero that takes charge of their own health and wellness at home and in school.

 

 

With over 9,000 entries in the Wellness At School Colouring Contest, the top 16 for each category were awarded prizes that include a Toys “R” Us shopping gift card, Nippon Paint Voucher, a Wellness Blobby and a superhero cape.

2nd Prize

RM300 Toys “R” Us shopping gift card + RM50 Nippon Paint voucher + Wellness Blobby

Not just that, each first prize winner also wins a school makeover – a painting package worth RM3,000 sponsored by Nippon Paint using their latest innovative paint, VirusGuard!

 

 

Who Are The Lucky Winners?

For CATEGORY 1 (Colouring contest for 3 & 4 year olds), the first prize winner who won a RM500 Toys “R” Us shopping gift card , RM50 Nippon Paint voucher, Wellness Blobby, Superhero Cape and a school makeover worth RM3,000 went to Tang Pei Yi from Beaconhouse, Sri Petaling.

Helene Teo, Head of School, Beaconhouse, Sri Petaling says that she’s overjoyed with Pei Yi’s  great achievement.

For CATEGORY 2 (Drawing + Colouring Contest for 5 & 6 year olds), the first place prizes went to Liew Zhi Juin from Tadika Desa Jaya, who also won his school a makeover worth RM3,000 from Nippon Paint.

 

 

Commenting on the Wellness At School Programme, Jeanie Lim, Head of School, Tadika Desa Jaya mentions how storytelling has helped convey the message of health and wellness to the children.

“Young children love to listen to stories. We read the storybook Ray Saves The Day and introduce Blobby a superhero who save the children health and wellness. Teachers explain to the children, if they were healthy and safe, they were able to do lots of  fun activities in the school.”

 

 

With the children’s safety and wellness in mind, Jeanie also feels grateful to Nippon paint for sponsoring this makeover. “I feel like the environment should be bright, cheerful and colourful. This will make children feel safe, happy and enjoy going to school. I am grateful to Nippon Paint for sponsoring this makeover and providing clean air to breathe in this environment,” she says.
