With the rise of shorter, more frequent getaways, travellers across the region are jetting off to Southeast Asia’s diverse destinations for weekend escapes and breaks.
A long weekend can stretch surprisingly far in Southeast Asia. In a region where an hour or two of flight time can exchange a dense city for rainforest, mountains or sea, the possibilities for a short escape are unusually varied.
Travellers across the region appear keen to take advantage of that proximity. Hilton’s South East Asia Pulse Check found that more than six in 10 travellers across the region have taken at least two overnight trips within South East Asia in the last 12 months, while 96% intend to travel within the region again in the year ahead.
At a broader level, Hilton’s latest 2027 Trends Report also found that APAC travellers are embracing shorter, more frequent trips that are easier to plan and fit into everyday life, with 59% planning trips that allow them to experience more in a short amount of time. This shows that some of the best escapes only need a few days away.
So whether you’re after a weekend on a world-class golf course, a restorative soak in natural hot springs, or a city break mapped out meal by meal, these stays across Southeast Asia offer plenty of reasons to pack a small bag and go.
Where Nature Does the Rest
When it’s time to slow down, few things rival an escape into nature. Travellers from Southeast Asia feel the same way, with adventure and nature-based travel ranking among the top three experiences they are most interested in across the region, according to Hilton’s South East Asia Pulse Check. 76% of APAC travellers from Hilton’s 2027 Trends Report also say that fresh air and the outdoors help them relax when travelling, while 56% say they spend more time in nature on holiday than they do at home.
For those looking for a renewed sense of wellbeing, Hilton Burau Bay Resort Langkawi is an ideal tropical weekend escape. Nestled between lush rainforest and the Andaman Sea, it is designed as a calm sanctuary inspired by its green surroundings. Guests can enjoy the island’s natural beauty, unwind with sunset drinks and beachfront dining at the resort, or take part in curated experiences such as guided rainforest walks and nature encounters and a Cocoa Craft Workshop, where they create their own customised chocolate bar.

The landscape changes considerably at Hilton Quang Hanh Onsen Resort, set amid the mountains of Quang Ninh, an area known for its rare natural hot mineral springs. Inspired by traditional onsen culture, the resort places bathing and restoration at the heart of the stay, with private onsen experiences in every room and access to Yoko Onsen Quang Hanh’s onsen baths, sauna and spa facilities. Guests can also join daily wellness activities such as aqua fitness, stretching and mobility sessions, self-massage workshops and singing bowl meditation. For those who want to venture further afield, Ha Long Bay is around 20 minutes away, making it easy to pair a quiet wellness retreat with a cruise or a day of exploration.

Further west, Kahavadi Chiang Rai, Curio Collection by Hilton offers a more active way to spend a few days in nature. Set beside the Mae Kok River, the hotel draws on the culture and landscape of Northern Thailand through experiences that range from guided bicycle rides and local market visits to traditional alms-giving and a hands-on Lanna cooking class. Wellness is woven in too, with mindfulness yoga and sound healing by the river, while Muay Thai sessions can be paired with an ice bath for a more invigorating reset. Together, these experiences give guests a chance to engage with Chiang Rai at a slower, more grounded pace.
A Weekend on the Fairway
For golfers, the appeal of a micro-holiday is easy to understand. When the course is part of the stay, a short break can revolve around little more than an early tee time, a leisurely round and enough time to unwind in between. In Southeast Asia, a resort makes it easy to build an entire weekend around the game.

Hilton Shah Alam Glenmarie
Just outside Kuala Lumpur, Hilton Shah Alam Glenmarie overlooks the Glenmarie Golf & Country Club, where golfers have access to two award-winning courses, as well as a driving range, pro shop and Titleist fitting centre. The hotel’s Golf Getaway Package brings some of the planning together, including an 18-hole round and breakfast at Gingerfire alongside other golfing essentials.
Eat, Explore, Repeat
For many, food can be reason enough to travel. Hilton’s South East Asia Pulse Check found that 55% of travellers from across the region are most interested in food-focused trips, while 48% are keen on cultural and heritage experiences. Food and culinary experiences are also among the leading considerations when choosing where to go.
Bangkok hardly needs an introduction as a food city, and Canopy Bangkok Sukhumvit places guests close to both its dining culture and daily rhythm. The hotel offers four distinct dining concepts, including a Spanish fire grill and taberna and a Korean-inspired cocktail bar. Beyond the hotel, its City Curator helps guests explore the city from a different angle, whether by joining the Khlong Saen Saep boat experience to discover waterside cafés and creative spaces, or joining a Morning Neighbourhood Walk through Asoke as the area comes to life.

In Singapore, Conrad Singapore Orchard makes it easy to devote much of a weekend to eating. From Michelin-starred Chinese cuisine at Summer Palace to handcrafted cocktails at the famed Manhattan, guests can also enjoy exclusive 1/3/5 Experiences, including cheese, cocktail, and chocolate-making workshops. Guests can also easily reach neighbouring attractions such as Dempsey Hill, a vibrant destination with culinary options ranging from al fresco cafes to fine dining, or the UNESCO-lauded Singapore Botanic Gardens.

Tru by Hilton Ha Long Hon Gai Centre – King Bed Room
A short food trip need not revolve around fine dining. This matters especially in a region where value for money remains the top consideration when travellers choose both a destination and a hotel, according to Hilton’s South East Asia Pulse Check. Near Ha Long Bay, Tru by Hilton Ha Long Hon Gai Centre offers a more budget-conscious base for exploring the city, with views towards the limestone islands surrounding the bay and complimentary breakfast included with the stay. From the hotel, Ha Long Night Market offers an easy evening stop for local food, while Vincom Plaza Ha Long adds further dining and shopping options nearby.
